Starting Colts

Hey everyone!

It has been a little over two months since I have written anything!

In the past months, Taylor and I have had our first wedding anniversary, lots of family time and starting new colts! We have had a blast this summer, even though it has been scorching hot.

Taylor and Josh both have colts they are starting and are on their 6th (ish) rides. After about 30 rides is when the colts start to come into their own and you can figure out their personalities and demeanor a little better. They both are doing really well. Josh has been starting his own red roan mare JoJo and Taylor has been starting his dad's buckskin gelding Clyde. (Personally I think JoJo's name should be Bonnie, but that's just me.¯\_(ツ)_/¯) )

It's all been going well so far. They are learning how to become soft in their faces, how to read cues and be around each other with a person on their back.

Everything that is happening right now are things they've never seen or experienced before. So it is really important to pay attention to how they are reacting. Luckily these two are really quiet and seem to be handling it all like they've had it all done before.

It always is fun for me to watch this process because that is the beginnings of the bond that builds between horse and rider. There is something so special about that relationship, it's something you just have to watch to understand. Trust is what has to happen to make this sort of thing successful. And that takes patience on the rider and horses end to make it happen.

Hopefully I can keep this updated a little better because we have a ton of fun things going on every day it seems!

Just something that's been on my mind lately is the way people choose something in their life. If you want to be happy, think positive thoughts and choose to be that way. No one can make that happen besides yourself.

Have a great weekend and go out and do something fun with your family.

With Love,

Abbie
