Branding

Hello all!
I hope you've had a fantastic week and will have an even better Easter weekend!
This week has kind of flown by for me, between working, running errands, a baseball game and date night tonight, it's been a bit busy. But now I've finally got the time to get this week's post up.
Branding last Friday went great! It was just a tad (a lot) bit windy, but we managed to get things done. :) When we were on horses starting to gather cows it began to sprinkle... And I'm sure I wasn't the only one who thought "What the heck?! Please don't rain. We changed branding to today so it wouldn't downpour on us!" We were lucky enough to only have to deal with that little sprinkle, then the rest of the day was pretty dry.
One of my favorite things about branding is the way it brings people together. Families and friends coming together to help get a job done. And we did just that, got the job done in about 3 hours! It was great to see some old friends and have a day spent outside. (Even though we all about got blown away.)
I didn't get as many pictures as I was hoping to myself, but I will share the few that I did get.
It was a good day for roping calves, riding horses, eating good food and spending time with even better people.
Taylor rode a young horse named Elsa and she did great for her first branding. He was really happy with her. Unfortunately he didn't get to rope as much as he usually does. But that was by his own choice. He was feeling generous and wanted everyone else to get their chance. But the 10 or so he did rope were done quickly and with that 'Taylor Flair' as you can see in the first picture.
My sister-in-law, Emilee, roped most of the time and did awesome! My brother-in-law, Josh, was on a roll and I swear every time I turned around he was dragging another one to the fire. My father-in-law, Clay, did just as good. Between sorting the cows off from the calves, branding and roping, he got it done.
It was a great day, but we were definitely DANG tired by the end of it.
I hope to have some more pictures in the coming months of Taylor riding 'green' horses. And that just means horses that haven't been rode very often or at all. He starts them for people so they can have more broke of a horse when they start to ride. Usually this takes around 30 days. Taylor loves to do it and usually people pay him, so it's a win-win.
I hope you all have a great weekend with family celebrating Easter. I know I will. It's such a special time and I hope you take advantage of it and spend some time thanking your Father in Heaven and your Savior.
He Is Risen. - Matthew 28:6
With Love,
